(AP) ? Jay-Z's entrance said it all: He bounced up and down on top of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, mimicking Rocky before he took the stage in front of nearly 50,000. His song "Made In America" played in the background.

Jay-Z, like Rocky Balboa, has a rags to riches American dream story, and the 42-year-old entertainer ? who grew up in the Brooklyn projects and released his debut in 1996 ? shared some of that through songs in his 90-minute set Saturday night at the "Budweiser Made In America" festival.

He entered from the back of the stage after running down the steps to perform "Public Service Announcement." That was followed with the night's first cameo: A pre-recorded video with President Barack Obama.

Obama urged the crowd to vote this fall. He also said Jay-Z's story is "what Made In America means" and added that he enjoys listening to the rapper's music on his iPod.

Jay-Z headlined the first night of the two-day festival he curated, performing hits like "99 Problems," ''Dirt Off Your Shoulder," ''Big Pimpin'" and "Empire State of Mind." He called it "the first annual Made In America festival."

The event is the first kind for the entrepreneurial Jay-Z, who is married to superstar Beyonce and owns a music management company, fashion line, nightclub and restaurant; he's also a co-owner of the Brooklyn Nets.

"Since you were so good to me, Philly, I'm going to be good to you tonight, Philly," Jay-Z yelled.

Rappers Pusta T and Big Sean hit the stage, and Kanye West followed, receiving an electrifying roar from the crowd. They performed a medley of hits, such as "Mercy," ''Dance" and "Can't Tell Me Nothing."

Jay-Z also brought out his former prot?g?s and Philadelphians Freeway, Chris and Neff, as well as Memphis Bleek. Common, 2 Chainz and Swizz Beatz also made appearances.

The scene was colorful and energetic, as thousands of music fans shifted from the three stages on the Benjamin Franklin parkway to watch Skrillex, D'Angelo, Passion Pit, Janelle Monae, Calvin Harris and 10 other acts. Sunday's line-up includes Pearl Jam, Run DMC, Odd Future and Drake, who was in the crowd Saturday night.

The festival is being filmed as a documentary and will be directed by Ron Howard. Proceeds from the ticketed event will benefit United Way chapters.

Jay-Z closed the night with West, performing the smash hit "...In Paris." Then fireworks blasted.

Jones-Drew ending holdout

New York Jets v Miami DolphinsGetty Images

With the Giants getting ready to start the 2012 season in only three days, the guy who had a big role in their 2007 Super Bowl run seems to be accepting the fact that his football career could be ending.

?I?m a human being and have been through worse,? receiver Plaxico Burress tells Gary Myers of the New York Daily News.? ?I?ve been in darker places.? I?m alive, I?m home here with my family.? If I don?t play football again, I have a nice shiny piece of hardware to show for it.? If it is over, football has been wonderful to me.? If I don?t play anymore, it won?t be because I can?t play anymore or can?t get open.?

Burress believes he?s being overlooked because of an off-field history that includes a 2008 accidental self-shooting that triggered 20 months in prison.

?I can?t sit here and say there are guys on these teams who are better than I am,? Burress said.? ?I am looking at it from a player?s standpoint: It has nothing to do with me being able to perform.? It has nothing to do with me being 35.?

Burress, whose only offseason workout came in New England, says he would like to re-join the Jets, the team for which he scored eight touchdowns and generated 612 receiving yards in 2011.? ?I know I?m better than that,? he said of his performance, which he believes was undermined by the rustiness of an extended stay at the Hotel Hoosegow.

?I got my legs back under me,? Burress said.? ?For me, it?s all about getting on the field and doing what I can do.?

He insists that he wasn?t a troublemaker for the Jets.? ?As far as me going into the locker room and causing a problem, after everything I?ve been through, I?d have to be crazy,? Burress said.? ?I just went in and played the best I could.? I didn?t have a problem with anybody.? I had fun.? I laughed a lot.? I enjoyed myself.? I was happy going to work in the morning and being back on my feet.? I didn?t cause any problems over there.?

Whether other teams foresee problems or choose to go younger or believe that Burress simply doesn?t have it any more, the chronic lack of interest over the past six months suggests that there won?t be a sudden spike over the next six days.

Still, it?s possible that teams are laying low, waiting until Week One has come and gone before making a play for Plaxico, who can be signed at that point without his full salary being essentially guaranteed.? So if the phone doesn?t start ringing by next Monday, Burress will be relegated to the ?waiting for enough guys to get injured? shelf with Chad Johnson and Terrell Owens.

PST: Tevez delivers for Man City vs. Rangers

Man of the Match: Carlos T?vez put in another excellent performance, the highlight of which was a brilliant run and cross on Edin Dzeko?s match-winner. With Aleksandr Kolarov in possession on the left, T?vez made a diagonal run through the penalty area, got behind the QPR defense to create an gimme for Dzeko. With QPR having just equalized, T?vez?s timing couldn?t have been better.

In stoppage time, T?vez?took advantage from some QPR disorganization to register his third goal in as many games.

Involved in almost everything City goes in attack, it?s safe to say that (after a ridiculously?tumultuous?2011-12) T?vez?is fully back. Although I abhor the clich?, it does seem as is T?vez?is like a new signing.

Packaged for takeaway:

  • At the onset, this game looked like it was going to be a bore. Mark Hughes had his team defending very deep. Even when City was kicking the ball around their defense, Queens Park Rangers? line was scarcely 10 yards from the edge of their area, with Rangers? two most advanced men (forwards Bobby Zamora and Andrew Johnson) reticent to leave their own half.
  • No surprise City was able to earn seven corner kicks in the first 16 minutes. By the time Yaya Tour? broke through in the 16th minute?(off a corner), City had a 126-20 advantage in completed passes.
  • In previous weeks, that much pressure on QPR?s defense would have cracked their line. Today, their back four was much improved. Ryan Nelson made his first Rangers? appearance, starting to the left of Anton Ferdinand. Jos? Bosingwa also took his QPR bow, starting out right.
  • Alejandro Faurl?n and newly-acquired Esteban Granero were also making their first appearances of the season, while Shaun Wright-Phillips and Johnson got their first starts.
  • The changes looked like they were going to pay off in the 59th minute when Johnson beat Pablo Zabaleta to get a right-footed shot off from 16 yards. Joe Hart blocked it back across goal and into the path of Zamora, who had an easy finish for his second goal of the year. Does City always have to make life difficult on themselves?
  • Of course, this was a rematch of the game that started City?s dramatic streak in earnest. In last year?s final round, a 10-man QPR was on track to prevent City from claiming their first Premier League title before Dzeko and (with practically the last kick of the season) Sergio Ag?ero bought City back.
  • City avoided those dramatics on Saturday, responding to QPR?s equalizer two minutes later. Tevez?s great run created an easy finish for Dzeko, giving City their winning margin.
  • QPR caused a couple of late gasps for the Ettihad?faithful. A 76th minute corner could have been put away by Nelson, with the near-miss replicated two minutes later off a restart from Granero.
  • Despite some spectator-antagonistic tactics, Hughes nearly got a result against his former club, though more important will be the progress his team continues to make defensively. Although they allowed three goals (after conceding only one last week), it was a strong performance against one of the league?s elite attacks. Given the questions surrounding the QPR defense, Saturday?s performance was something to build on.
  • And for City, they still haven?t rekindled the swashbuckling form that characterized the first half of their title-winning campaign, but do they need to? Seven points through three games isn?t perfect, but it puts the team on pace for the same 89 that won them last year?s title.
  • The Citizens also had a potentially ?more important? detail: Jack Rodwell seems to be developing a better understanding of his role, both in terms of his positioning in the attacking phase as well as how to anticipate and react to Tour??s ventures forward. While it isn?t a surprising development, it?s still noteworthy that it?s happening.
  • Bad news for the teams: Ferdinand and Zabaleta each left with injuries. Ferdinand hurt his shoulder in a collision with Dzeko. Zabaleta was pulling at his right hamstring as he came off in the 75th minute.

Traumatic Brain Injuries After a Car Accident - Personal Injury ...

Last updated 12 hours ago

Increased speed limits on America?s highways have led to a larger number of high-speed collisions. The sheer force of a high-impact crash leads to serious body injuries and may result in permanent disabilities. If you or a loved one experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to a car accident, you may have a strong legal claim against the at-fault party. Here is more information about understanding the severity of this ailment:

About the Injury

Traumatic brain injuries can happen to anyone. They are caused by a sharp blow to the skull that causes the brain to move within the skull or causes the skull to break and directly injure the brain. According to the Massachusetts Department of Health and Human Services, approximately 1.4 million people have a TBI each year, and over 50,000 people may die from the injury across the United States. The most common causes of TBIs are motor vehicle crashes, sports injuries, on the job injuries such as slip and falls and assaults. Currently, over 5.3 million Americans are on long-term or lifelong disability due to experiencing a TBI.

Consult a Physician, Even if You Lack Symptoms

You may not feel any pain after an accident due to adrenaline pumping in your veins, but seeing a doctor is essential to ruling out TBI or other brain injuries. Internal symptoms of the accident may take up to several weeks to appear, and their management may require long-term medical care. The extent of the injuries can also be mitigated if caught immediately after the accident. Side effects to watch for include concussions, seizures, general dizziness, memory loss, and even anxiety and depression. Once on the road to recovery, contact a personal injury attorney to discuss your legal options and file a claim against the parties responsible for your pain and suffering.

If you or a loved one is suffering from a traumatic brain injury following a car accident, consult an experienced personal injury attorney about filing a claim for damages. Massachusetts residents in the Worcester area should call the Law Office of Sherrill P. Cline at (888) 539-5067. Our staff is skilled at holding the at-fault party accountable for your injuries. Call today for a free consultation.

PFT: Steelers LB Spence suffers ugly knee injury

Kansas City Chiefs v Green Bay PackersGetty Images

The NFL Referees Association has issued a two-line release that, while not saying much, implies plenty.

?Reports on the economic gap between the NFL and NFLRA are inaccurate,? NFLRA counsel Michael Arnold states.? ?Ongoing negotiations with the NFL will be conducted in a confidential and professional manner.?

The first line is curious.? For all the things the league and the officials? union disagree on, the gap in proposed pay didn?t appear to be one of them.? Instead, the problem with the salary divide came from perspective.

The officials had characterized it as $100,000 per team per year.? The NFL had called it $22.7 million over a seven-year deal.? In the end, it?s the same amount.

The real clue comes in the second line.? ?Ongoing negotiations? means that there are negotiations; 24 hours ago, there weren?t.? And the commitment to proceeding in a ?confidential and professional manner? suggests that the two sides have agreed that, as they try to find middle ground for an agreement, there?s no reason to rattle swords.

Now, get it done.? Please.

US threatens legal action over SEAL's bin Laden book

The Pentagon threatened legal action against the former Navy SEAL who has written a book recounting his role in the May 2011 raid that killed Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

Just days before the release of the first-hand account of the operation on Pakistani soil, the Pentagon's top lawyer, Jeh Johnson, told the author he had broken his promise to abide by a strict non-disclosure agreement signed before he retired from the military this year.

"In the judgment of the Department of Defense, you are in material breach and violation of the non-disclosure agreements you signed" and the Pentagon is considering "all remedies legally available," Johnson said in a letter to the author, who writes under the pseudonym Mark Owen.

The former Navy commando's book "No Easy Day" is due to be released next week but has already sparked a wave of publicity and controversy.

He signed documents during his service and before he retired promising "never to divulge" classified information and to submit any manuscript to the Pentagon before publishing, Johnson said.

The Pentagon's general counsel noted that some copies of the book had appeared on Wednesday -- before next week's scheduled release -- and warned: "Further dissemination of your book will aggravate your breach and violation of your agreements," it said.

The letter did not indicate whether the book had revealed secrets that could endanger US forces but made clear that simply by failing to clear the manuscript with the military, the Navy SEAL had broken faith with his obligations.

Top military and intelligence officials, who met to discuss the book on Wednesday, have combed through the text in recent days looking for any disclosure of sensitive tactics or techniques but so far have not pointed to any worrisome revelations.

The Navy SEAL team member's version of bin Laden's death at his Abbottabad compound differs from previous accounts offered by President Barack Obama's administration and comes amid a politically-charged debate about the handling of state secrets in the wake of the raid.

The Pentagon made clear that the publisher, Penguin's Dutton, also faced potential legal jeopardy over the book.

"I write to you to formally advise you of your material breach and violation of your agreements, and to inform you that the Department is considering pursuing against you, and all those acting in concert with you, all remedies legally available to us in light of this situation," it said.

The publisher has moved up the scheduled release date from September 11 to September 4, as media coverage has fueled a flood of orders for the book.

The book provides fresh details about the May 2011 raid, describing how bin Laden was first shot in the head as he peered out of a door and then pumped with bullets as he convulsed on the floor.

Previous official accounts said bin Laden had appeared in a doorway and ducked back into his bedroom, leading the US commandos to suspect he might be retrieving a weapon.

But the author said bin Laden was shot in the head by the SEAL team when he leaned out of the doorway and was found bleeding from his wound when commandos made their way to his room, according to excerpts cited in media reports and confirmed to AFP by defense officials.

The Al-Qaeda leader was mortally wounded and twitching on the floor as two women cried over his body. The team pushed aside the women and then fired more shots at him, according to the book.

We "fired several rounds," the author wrote in the book. "The bullets tore into him, slamming his body into the floor until he was motionless."

Fox News has revealed what it says is the identity of the author, a former Navy SEAL who also took part in the 2009 operation that rescued Captain Richard Phillips from Somali pirates.

Obama administration officials have appeared anxious to avoid having to discuss or defend in detail an operation they deem a major triumph, while suggesting the book did not shed any new light on the raid.
