Opening: Acquisitions and System Services Librarian, Univ. of Kentucky College of Law Library

Description and Responsibilities: The Acquisitions and System Services Librarian will serve as the University of Kentucky College of Law Library?s liaison with the University Libraries Voyager system personnel, and be familiar with the development and implementation of new standards and systems in acquisitions, cataloging, and electronic resources. The individual selected for the position will work closely with the Head of Technical Services in collection management and government documents, as well as have the knowledge to run reports within the Voyager system using Microsoft Access.

Members of the law librarian faculty participate in a collaborative management structure, working closely with an engaged faculty. Consequently, the Acquisitions and System Services Librarian will be actively engaged in various teams that facilitate the Law Library?s functioning, policies, and collection development. Additionally, as a member of the law library faculty, the Acquisitions and System Services Librarian may be asked to provide limited reference desk support to the college of law faculty, students, members of the practicing bar, and other patrons of the Library.

Required: An M.L.S. or the equivalent from an ALA accredited institution as well as an additional relevant degree are required. Additionally, the Law Library is looking to hire someone with the following experience: technical services in an academic or law library; integrated library systems; Microsoft Access; and database design, implementation, and management.

Successful candidates will be able to show evidence of an ability to meet University of Kentucky requirements for promotion and tenure in the librarian title faculty series as delineated in university and college rules, including excellence in performing primary job responsibilities as well as evidence of self-motivation, initiative, professionalism, scholarly productivity, and a commitment to professional and university service.

Desired: A J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school; Familiarity with Ex Libris Voyager, and experience with or knowledge of EDI and materials published in a variety of formats, especially electronic resources and serials.

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. College of Law Library title series tenure-track, 12-month appointment, 22 days annual leave, TIAA/CREF and Fidelity retirement plans.
