Munday's Dee Paul, who led Munday to a state title in 2012, narrowed his choices to Texas Tech, Baylor and Tennessee, ended up choosing the Red Raiders to play football and run track.

OFFERS | Texas Tech, Baylor, Tennessee were the main suitors. You can also include Oklahoma St. and SMU. Dee was previously committed to SMU.
STATS | Pretty ridiculous statistics. For his career, Paul rushed for over 6,000 yards, 99 rushing touchdowns, had over 2,800 yards passing, and 36 passing touchdowns. This past year, Paul averaged 15 yards a carry and this past season alone, where he led Munday to a state championship, he had 32 touchdowns. In the state championship, Paul had 16 carries for 267 rushing yards against Tenaha.
THE PLAYER SPEAKS | You can watch the Paul's announcement on KFDX and for the record, I don't have a problem with announcement ceremonies. Sometimes, this moment is the only time for these kids to shine, why not take advantage of it. It's harmless for me. Paul said that the reason he eliminated SMU and Oklahoma St. is that SMU doesn't have a men's track team and OSU would not let him run track. He very much wants to run track and won the 1A long jump and 300m hurdles last year. I'm guessing that Coach Kittley is as excited as Kingsbury. Paul also talked with the Reporter News:
"I have the best relationship with the coaches from Tech," said Paul, who already has spoken to new Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury over the phone. "They had been recruiting me since last January. They didn't offer until October, so it took them awhile. But they were the first to recruit me and I've got a great relationship with all the coaches there."
And according to the Times Record (Paul says in his interview that he saw all of the Texas Tech coaches this morning) everyone was having a grand old time:
"My relationship with the coaches from Tech is really good," said Paul, who will be a defensive back and return kicks for the Red Raiders. "Coach Cumbie and Coach Kingsbury were at my house this morning, and we just had a ball, just laughing it up and getting to know each other."
SCOUTING REPORT | Seems like a very motivated kid. After playing Tenaha in the state championship last year, who had current Texas Tech player Reginald Davis leading Tenaha, Paul led his Munday squad to a state championship. To get a sense for Paul, you can watch this video or this video. Again, he seems squared away, pretty humble and ready to work. Those are all very good traits.
Paul has incredible quickness. He's far too good of an athlete against that competition. Great explosion, terrific vision and great speed. Obviously, the weight is a problem, or lack thereof, but he'll redshirt for football this year most likely. He says he'll play defensive back and I think that sounds right. He played defensive back in Munday as he wasn't just on offense. It's Munday, so he has to play both ways. He had 57 tackles and 8 interceptions last year.
Dee, welcome to Texas Tech and Git Your Guns Up!
The 2013 Class | I've done my best to clean things up here. I've added J.J. Loller to the defensive tackles since he is essentially part of this class as he should be attending school in January along with Davis Webb and probably others. We'll find out soon on that. As you may recall, RB Daryl Chestnutt, RB Jalen Rhodes and CB Aeneas Henricks no longer are committed or have offers from Texas Tech.
