Every woman, pregnancy, and delivery is unique, so MommyFit is customized to best fit each woman?s needs and goals. We believe that exercise, sound nutrition, and effective relaxation techniques are an integral part of a healthy, happy pregnancy, delivery and post-partum,? explain Program Coordinators, Dani Simonian, Founder, and Cyndi Hill, DPT. ?We?ve developed three tracks to our MommyFit Program to meet the needs of women at any of these stages.?
MommyFit Pre-Conception Track is designed to help women be fit and healthy for pregnancy, which studies show help women feel better overall, and more easily maintain healthy weight gain during pregnancy. Exercise during pregnancy not only increases energy, improves your mood, and helps you sleep better, it also helps reduce discomforts such as low back pain and swollen ankles associated with pregnancy. MommyFit Pre-Natal Track focuses on teaching the mom-to-be how to safely exercise with her growing belly. Many exercises are specifically designed to help prepare the body for labor and delivery, which can help alleviate anxiety about giving birth. Plus, keeping fit throughout pregnancy will help to get the body back in shape more quickly afterwards.
Studies show that exercise after pregnancy helps prevent postpartum depression, which contributes to the overall health of the mother and therefore better care for the child. MommyFit Post-Partum Track gives the new mom a place and time to focus on herself. This track usually concentrates on losing the ?baby weight? and regaining strength, but is customized to meet each woman?s needs.
In addition to the fitness and wellness component, MommyFit includes free monthly mixers. The mixers are a way to meet other future moms, moms-to-be, and new moms, and feature topics such as: infant/child first aid and CPR, infant massage, baby product recommendations, and holistic health options. ?We want to create a network for MommyFit members; a place they can turn to for mental, physical and social support and encouragement throughout their pregnancies and beyond,? say Simonian and Hill.
